Alzheimer’s and Memory Care

CRL’s innovative Alzheimer and Memory Care Program encompasses a consistent blend of nutrition, spiritual, mental and physical stimulation in a nurturing, peaceful and caring environment.

The foundation of CRL’s Alzheimer and Memory Care Program is based on our company’s founder, Dr. Abraham Isaac Anbar’s 50 plus years of research in various healthcare projects including Alzheimer and memory care.

Today, Dr. Anbar’s approach to improving health for seniors, such as cardiovascular disease and dementia is recognized as the cutting-edge of healthcare. His work has been adopted by federal and state governments in various countries, as well as by the national health initiative Healthy People 2010.

CRL’s Alzheimer and Memory Care Programs include:

•    Trained and Caring Staff: Our Regional Director of Clinical Services oversees the care provided 24-hours per day by specially trained staff for residents with Alzheimer and memory issues.

•    Family Communication: On-going, real-time communication with family members about the condition and care of their loved ones. We also have monthly Family Support Groups that bring our residents’ family members together to share and support their emotional experiences of dealing with Alzheimers and dementia.

•    Therapeutic Environment: All resident suites and community common areas incorporate simple floor plans that encourage residents to explore and enjoy their surroundings with use of soft and comforting colors, hands-on art work and stimulating sights and sounds, all in a safe and secured environment.

•    Individual Assessment Cares: New residents are assessed by our head clinician prior to move-in with an individual care program designed specific to meet their needs. The plan is discussed with family members to ensure the quality of care needed is being met prior to admission. On-going assessments are performed to meet the resident’s changing needs.

•    Activity Stimulation Pillars: Our Life Enrichment Coordinators have designed various activities to engage residents in promoting mental and physical well being with our Activity Stimulation Pillars. These pillars include: mental, physical, social, emotional, nutritional and spiritual activities that allow for group and one-on-one social interaction.

•    Nutritional: CRL’s full-time gourmet chefs balance nutrition and taste with all natural ingredients with no pre-made products containing salt, preservatives or breading. Our program has produced results of residents going off insulin due to our quality nutritional program.

•    Hydration: Designed specifically for our Alzheimer’s and memory impairment communities, our hydration program includes water with all meals in addition to other beverages; two fruit and/or vegetable smoothies per day; and cranberry juice martinis at happy hour. Throughout the day our caregivers pass additional water. We also offer a healthy snack menu serving two snacks per day or as needed.

•    Dietary: Through a proper balance of nutrition and hydration CRL’s dietary program has produced fewer UTI’s (Urinary Tract Infections), less blood pressure and blood sugar issues and little weight loss, which is unusual for people with Alzheimer and dementia.
