CRL History

CRL Senior Living Community (“CRL”) was founded in 2000 with the mission of setting a new standard for senior care. The vision of CRL was to create a therapeutic environment that blends proper nutrition, mental and physical stimulation, socialization and spirituality. This vision became reality with CRL’s first acquisitions, Woodland Manor, located in Sheboygan Falls, WI and Centennial Inn, located in Oshkosh, WI.

In 2004, CRL acquired two additional communities and broke ground on Lakeshore Manor, a dedicated memory care community located in Oshkosh, WI. This development represented the culmination of four years of research in best practices for memory care. It was with this development that CRL’s commitment and focus on memory care was solidified.

By the end of 2005, CRL operated five communities and 125 beds.

CRL developed four new communities and expanded two additional communities with Health Care REIT (“HCN”) through 2008. By the end of 2008, CRL had grown to 10 communities totaling 495 beds with one community in development.

In 2009, CRL developed the brand of innovator’s in healthcare. This brand was based on the founder’s innovative nutrition program. As part of the brand proposition, CRL developed a series of other innovative programs including:

• Life Enrichment/Stimulation Pillars – approach to activities
• Family Ties – family communication plan
• Financial Concierge – resident funding program
• Wellness Programs – specific programs for falls prevention, incontinence and diabetic management

At the request of HCN, CRL took over five communities totaling 414 beds. These underperforming communities doubled CRL’s bed count, created a strong operating platform in not only dedicated memory care communities, but also in IL/AL communities, and expanded CRL’s geographic foot print into Illinois. In 2009, CRL also opened its newest community, Merrill Hills Manor, a 97 bed community located in Waukesha, WI. By the end of 2009, CRL operated 16 communities and 1,045 beds.

In 2011 CRL opened our newest community North Grove Manor, a 112 bed memory care community in Morton Grove, IL. Also began development of Arbor Ridge Manor, an 88 bed memory care community in Highland Park.
